The Salem Chamber of Commerce is pleased to again present the 15th Annual Haunted Happenings Grand Parade on Thursday, October 7th, 2010. This year’s event theme is “Around the World”.
The theme reflects Salem great maritime history and allows for parade participants to dress up as a mariner or a pirate, a penguin or maybe a Sumo wrestler! The choice of costumes for this year’s parade is endless!
The Parade will be on Thursday evening, October 7th , and will start promptly at 6:30 pm. The Parade will be leaving from Shetland Properties on Congress Street turning left onto Derby Street, right onto Lafayette Street, left onto Front Street, right onto Washington Street, right onto the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall and finishing in the Salem Common where DJ Doug will entertain all.
A parking ban will be in effect along the parade route streets beginning at 5:00 pm and roads along the route will be closed from 6:00 pm until approximately 9:30 pm.
Parade participants include Grand Marshall Mayor Kimberley Driscoll, a great number of North Shore Marching Bands, all of Salem’s elementary and middle schools, as well as the world famous and fan favorite Beverly Lawn Chair Drill team. The Salem Little League Champs and The Salem YMCA Bucket Brigade are both riding a Salem Trolley, and Salem’s newest addition, Witch City Segway, will be in the parade as well.
Road closings and a parking ban will be in effect on Thursday. For details, visit HauntedHappenings.org/residents.
